Introduction

Spotteri is an electricity spot price monitoring application that provides users with price information and AI-generated summaries via notifications. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

Device Tokens

We collect and store Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) device tokens to deliver electricity price notifications to your device.

Language Preference

We collect and store your app language preference to provide notifications and summaries in your preferred language.

Price Region and App Version

Alongside the token we store the price region the app is set to (currently always Finland) and the app’s version number. The region selects which prices your notifications carry; the version lets us keep older versions of the app working.

IP Address

Like any internet service, our server and Cloudflare, which relays and caches requests to it, see the IP address each request comes from. The server uses it only to limit request rates and does not store it.

What We Don’t Collect

We do not require user accounts
We do not collect personal identification information
We do not collect location data
We do not use analytics or tracking services
We do not collect usage statistics

How We Use Your Information

Notification Delivery

Device tokens are used solely to send electricity price notifications through Apple’s Push Notification Service (APNs).

Language Localization

Your language preference is used to generate and deliver notifications in your chosen language.

Price Summaries

We use an AI service to generate summaries of electricity prices. This processing happens entirely on our backend servers without any user-specific data. The AI receives only the published electricity prices, with no device tokens, identifiers, or personal information.

Data Storage and Retention

Location: All data is stored on servers located in Finland
Retention Period: Device tokens, with the language, region and version stored beside them, are retained until Apple’s APNs service has reported the token invalid repeatedly (typically after you uninstall the app or turn notifications off), at which point the record is deleted automatically
Electricity Price Data: Historical prices, as published by the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform, are stored on our backend for summary generation purposes

We do not share, sell, or transfer your data to third parties, except as follows:

Apple Push Notification Service (APNs): Device tokens are used with Apple’s notification service to deliver notifications to your device
Cloudflare: Relays and caches the app’s requests to our server, and sees the IP address of each request in doing so. Price documents are cached at its edge; device registrations are not
ENTSO-E Transparency Platform: Our server retrieves the published electricity prices from it. The app on your device never contacts ENTSO-E, and no user information is sent to them
AI service: We use an AI service to generate price summaries, but only electricity price data is processed - no user data is sent to it

As a user in the European Union, you have rights regarding your data:

By installing and using Spotteri, you consent to our collection of your device token and language preference for notification delivery. You can withdraw this consent at any time by uninstalling the app.

When you uninstall the app, Apple’s notification service informs us that your device token is no longer valid, and we automatically delete it from our database. This simultaneously:

Withdraws your consent to data processing
Stops all notifications
Deletes your data from our system

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data:

Secure server infrastructure in Finland
Encrypted communication between app and backend
Regular security updates and monitoring

Children’s Privacy

Spotteri does not knowingly collect information from children under 16 years of age.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Third-Party Services

Apple Push Notification Service (APNs)

Cloudflare

Requests from the app to our server pass through Cloudflare. Cloudflare’s privacy policy applies to their services: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/

AI service

We use an AI service for generating electricity price summaries. The provider’s privacy policy applies to their services.

ENTSO-E Transparency Platform

The prices are the Finnish day-ahead prices published by the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform. Our server retrieves them; the app on your device does not, and ENTSO-E never sees a request from it. ENTSO-E’s terms of use apply to the data.

Future Features

We plan to introduce in-app purchases for advanced features. If implemented, additional data processing related to purchase transactions will be handled by Apple’s App Store, subject to Apple’s privacy policies. We will update this privacy policy accordingly when such features are launched.
